8 Business Strategies for Personal Trainers to Generate Passive Income

As an online personal trainer, you get to help people that you wouldn’t be able to otherwise, with the connectivity of Hapori Coach and tools like Zoom. It’s both financially and intrinsically rewarding, particularly for personal trainers who just want to help their clients live healthier lifestyles, providing them with the knowledge and tools that they need to succeed.

Whilst charging for your training courses generates direct revenue, you can create the possibility to generate passive income both right now and in the future by doing a little bit of work. This is key to delivering excellent customer service while being rewarded by multiple revenue streams while simultaneously providing the client what they want. Likewise, you achieve the role of a lifestyle coach and online instructor.

Building streams of passive revenue is an excellent way for fitness professionals to make more money as they also provide additional support and resources for their personal training clients. There are a variety of ways to generate passive income. Here are some of our favorites:

1. Up Your Digital Marketing Game

Digital marketing is the best way for you to break geographical barriers and reach your target audience across the country and the globe. Investing your time and resources in a good digital marketing strategy yields a much greater return than depending on traditional marketing.

If you’re new to digital marketing, you need to be aware of these things:

  • Consistent branding, including voice, style, and values, throughout all your marketing communications. – Sign up for you’re free trial and let us help you with your branding
  • Email marketing
  • Social media platforms
  • Getting featured or mentioned by others in their platform
  • Google ads, social media ads
  • Calls to Action. Whatever your digital marketing strategy is, and however you choose to communicate with people, always use every occasion when you have an audience present (such as social media) to ask them to take some kind of action.

2. Write an Ebook

Do you have a specific niche, extensive knowledge or expertise in health, fitness, nutrition, or a different perspective on a health and wellness topic? Maybe you have lots of recipes to share, a success story, or new tips to share. Creating an eBook requires some upfront work, but once it is finished, you receive passive income each time someone buys your eBook online. Your ebook can also be a great way to add value AND create good lead generation for potential new customers. Writing the book can take up a bit of your own time, but it is well worth it. On the other hand, all Hapori Customers get a library of 10 ebooks that are either Hapori branded or can be white label custom branded. You can then use them as it is or add your own spin on them.

3. Automate Your Training Programs

Automated training programs can be one of the best-hidden secrets of personal trainers who earn high incomes. As far back as 10 years ago, the only way to offer your services as an individual personal trainer was either through one-on-one sessions or group classes with rotation of guidance.

You can now offer your personalised training programs through apps and software for your clients to carry out at their own convenience. For example, Hapori Coach lets personal trainers record workouts or choose from pre-recorded workouts. You can add a customised meal plan and lifestyle suggestions (such as tips for healthy eating) in the Online Hub (special bonus for using the healthy recipes ebooks). You can also offer live coaching sessions with clients whenever needed.

When you automate your training programs, what happens? You can train ten clients at once, thirty clients at once, or even one hundred clients at once. Software like Hapori Coach lets you automate your workout routine while customising it for each client so that they can train at their own pace.

4. Create and Sell Pre-Made Workout Programs

There are usually a few clients who want to hire a personal trainer but don’t have the resources to pay for a private session. Some clients may want generic workouts. However, if you develop workouts for specific goals or niche markets, they may be more effective. For example, create an app for new mothers to help them get their bodies back after having a baby. If you create solid workouts that have great content, easy access, fun, safe, and efficient, you can sell them to consumers directly.

5. Membership Website

Another way to create a passive income is by creating an online business that has membership access. You can offer a monthly or annual subscription fee and provide access to various recipes, fitness tips, workout routines, resources, contests, pre-recorded online classes, tools, and more. It’s important to know what your clients want and need so that you can create great content for them. It is possible that you might need to put in some work during the process, but because you will want to keep adding to the platform and creating more value for your clients, you should be able to get through it.

6. Promote a Product as a Brand Ambassador or With Affiliate Marketing

There are a number of companies that like to team up with health and fitness professionals who have a large following (especially on social media) What products or pieces of fitness equipment do you really love or think are incredible? You may be able to connect with the company to promote their products to earn royalties, flat fees, or free gear. You can also sell products such as protein shakes or supplements and this can all be done on Hapori Coach too.

7. Write a Blog and Monetise It

Fitness experts and personal trainers often have a lot of knowledge. You can earn money by displaying banner ads on your blog for various websites. If you have great articles and can build a strong community, then you can turn your blog into a platform that you can use to promote other streams of income (e.g., products, e-books, etc.). If your blog gains traction you can also sign up for services such as Google Adsense.

8. Create a YouTube Channel and Monetise It

A YouTube channel is another great method for making passive income. However, it takes time and requires you to already have a solid base following. Whether you create workout videos, cooking shows, a discussion on a particular subject, the Internet is one of the main sources people use to find information about it. And, just like the blog, YouTube is a platform where you can promote and sell your other stuff to your audience.

It is important to note that for passive income strategies (such as affiliate marketing) to be effective, it’s vital to spend a significant amount of time investigating the product or service you’re offering and setting up the programming early on so that you only have done minimal work in the future.

Affiliate Marketing, blogs, and youtube can surely bring more income but will require lots of work, You can also make extra income from existing clients and prospects. Find out more on how to do this on the training for trainers webinar on March 23rd, 8 pm!
